WANA (Mar 02) – A session of Iran’s Interim Leadership Council has been held, attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Hojjatoleslam Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, and Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, a member of the Guardian Council.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced on Sunday afternoon (March 1) the commencement of the Leadership Council’s work, stating that the Council will resolutely continue the path of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

In a video message, Pezeshkian added: “The United States and the Israeli regime should know that assassinating the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution will bring them nothing but disgrace.”

Referring to the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader by Israel and the United States, Pezeshkian emphasised: “The martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei was a great tragedy for our country. However, as Almighty God has promised in the Holy Qur’an, prophets and leaders come to awaken nations around the world, and with their passing, this path will certainly not be left without followers.”

He said: “Today, our dear nation mourns this great martyr, and all of us, by being present in the field — in mosques and in the streets — must thwart the sinister plots of the enemies through unity and solidarity.”

Pezeshkian added: “In accordance with Article 111 of the Constitution, the Interim Leadership Council has begun its work today and, by the grace and power of God, will firmly continue the path of the late Imam, our beloved martyred Leader, and the path of all those who seek justice around the world.”

The President stressed that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are fully prepared and will remain ready to decisively strike enemy bases and, as always, disappoint the enemies.

He continued: “Pray that God does not let us be ashamed before our beloved people and grants us success in being righteous followers on the path of truth and justice.”

In conclusion, the President once again offered condolences on the martyrdom of the beloved Leader of the Revolution after years of struggle, effort, sacrifice, awakening, and resistance against oppression, praying that God may bless his soul and keep his followers steadfast and honoured.
