WANA (May 20) – Mr. Basem Naim and Osama Hamdan, members of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), who are visiting Iran to participate in the Tehran Dialogue Forum, met with Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on the current developments in Palestine, particularly the latest wave of Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Basem Naim, former Palestinian Minister of Health, referred to the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and condemned the occupying regime’s use of water and food as tools of collective punishment against the people of Gaza. He stated that the people of Gaza and resistance groups will continue to stand firm against Israeli crimes until a solution is reached that guarantees the rights and interests of the Palestinian nation.

He added that despite the efforts of mediating countries, the Zionist regime is not genuinely seeking to end the war and is only using negotiations to buy time. It is trying to impose, through talks, what it has failed to achieve on the battlefield.

The Hamas Political Bureau member emphasized that the only goal of the resistance in any negotiation is to secure the rights and interests of the Palestinian people, including a full ceasefire, withdrawal of occupying forces from the Gaza Strip, and lifting the oppressive siege on Gaza.

He also expressed gratitude to friendly nations supporting Palestine and appreciated the support of the Iranian people and government, calling for increased pressure from Islamic and global communities on the Israeli regime to stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Iran’s Foreign Minister also thanked the Hamas delegation for attending the Tehran Dialogue Forum and stated that the ceasefire proposals put forth by the Zionist regime and the United States have not addressed the main demands and interests of the Palestinian people.

Araghchi reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s continued support for the Palestinian people and resistance against Israeli crimes, particularly through diplomatic efforts and in regional and international forums.
