Minab: The Largest Massacre of Schoolgirls in Recorded History
WANA (Mar 03) – George Galloway, a former member of the British Parliament, has issued a searing condemnation of recent military strikes in southern Iran, labeling the killing of schoolgirls in the city of Minab as the greatest catastrophe caused by the United States since the Vietnam War.
In a powerful statement addressing the international silence surrounding the event, Galloway detailed the scale of the tragedy in the remote Hormozgan province.
“A Massacre Without Reason”
Galloway reported that 167 girls, aged between 7 and 12, were slaughtered inside their classrooms at a primary school in Minab.
“This occurred near Hormuz, in a remote and almost unknown region of Iran; there is no reason that anyone can comprehend for this,” Galloway stated. He added that an additional 60 individuals remain hospitalized with injuries sustained during the strike.
Total Destruction of Women’s Volleyball Teams
The former MP also revealed that the schoolhouse massacre was not the only targeted strike on civilians during the opening stages of the conflict.
“On the very first day of the war, 40 volleyball players—three entire teams of female athletes—were also murdered in an airstrike,” Galloway noted. He emphasized that the Minab incident stands as the “largest massacre of schoolgirls in the recorded history of the world.”
A Critique of Global Media Double Standards
Galloway sharply criticized Western media outlets and world leaders for what he described as a calculated silence regarding Iranian civilian casualties. He challenged the public to reflect on how the news would be framed if the perpetrators were different:
“Just reflect for a moment: If Russia had killed 167 Ukrainian schoolgirls, if Palestinians had killed 167 Israeli schoolgirls, or if Iran had committed such an act, this would be the biggest news story in the world for years.”
He concluded by noting that despite the unprecedented scale of the “Minab Massacre,” the global conversation remains largely indifferent to the loss of Iranian lives.
