Missile Strike Hits Minab During Visit by Foreign Journalists
WANA (Mar 29) – In a series of attacks on Saturday afternoon, areas in Minab County—including the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school and Shahid Aabsalan clinic—were targeted in repeated strikes, coinciding with the presence of foreign journalists visiting the site of earlier attacks.
According to Ahmad Nafisi, Deputy Governor of Hormozgan for Political, Security, and Social Affairs, the attacks took place between 4:00 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. (local time), with drones attributed to U.S.-Israeli forces carrying out multiple strikes on civilian and medical facilities. He emphasized that the assaults occurred while a group of foreign reporters was on-site documenting previous incidents, placing them in direct danger.
Nafisi stated that three independent journalists from the United States, Canada, and Australia were present, gathering reports and evidence. He described the strikes as a deliberate attempt to intimidate the media and restrict the free flow of information, strongly condemning the actions.
He added that, fortunately, all journalists were safely evacuated from the area through coordinated efforts, and there is no cause for concern regarding their safety.
The deputy governor also called on international organizations to take immediate action to halt such attacks, stressing that those responsible must be held accountable in international courts.
Nafisi further condemned attacks on journalists in other regions, including Lebanon, stating that such actions would not succeed in silencing the truth.
