Mohajerani: Ceasefire in Gaza Is Not the End
WANA (Oct 10) – The spokesperson for the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomed the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the halt to Israeli crimes in Gaza is not the end of the road, and that those responsible for these atrocities must be brought before international courts.
According to reports, Fatemeh Mohajerani, in an interview with Al-Mayadeen, expressed Iran’s full support for any initiative or measure that leads to an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza, stating: “Iran supports any plan that includes the withdrawal of occupying forces, the delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the fulfillment of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.”
She added that Iran’s support for the Palestinian nation is not merely a political stance, but rather stems from a deep belief in “the right of nations to self-determination and the duty to stand against oppression and occupation.”
Mohajerani described the Palestinian resistance as legitimate and an inseparable part of the struggle to reclaim their rights, calling on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities regarding war crimes and acts of genocide in Gaza, and to take serious steps toward prosecuting those responsible.
The Iranian government spokesperson also warned against being deceived by the Israeli regime’s repeated violations of international agreements and obligations, urging all parties to remain vigilant.
This statement came as the Palestinian movement Hamas announced early Thursday morning that a comprehensive agreement had been reached to end the war in Gaza. The agreement reportedly includes the withdrawal of occupying forces, the entry of humanitarian aid, and a prisoner exchange—marking a significant turning point in the region’s political developments.
According to sources, indirect negotiations between Palestinian and Israeli delegations aimed at securing a ceasefire and preparing the ground for a prisoner exchange began on Monday, October 6, 2025 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Representatives from the United States, including Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, and Jared Kushner, former White House advisor, also took part in the talks.
