WANA (Oct 29) – Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Wednesday that the process of removing Iran from the FATF blacklist will take time and cannot happen immediately.

Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting on October 29, Mohajerani explained that when Iran approved joining the CFT (Combating the Financing of Terrorism) and Palermo Convention, officials were already aware that exiting the FATF blacklist would be a gradual process.

She noted that the Central Bank has submitted a detailed report on the matter, and the Minister of Economy is prepared to provide full explanations to the media.

Mohajerani also commented on parliamentary oversight, saying the government respects the supervisory role of the Parliament, but warned against actions that could cause public anxiety or disrupt national unity.

Regarding efforts to seek compensation for the recent 12-day war, she stated that the Legal Affairs Office began documenting evidence in coordination with all relevant institutions, but emphasized that legal proceedings are inherently time-consuming.

Her remarks come as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced it had rejected Iran’s ratification of the Palermo Convention, citing Tehran’s extensive reservations about the definition and classification of terrorist groups. According to a statement on FATF’s website, Iran submitted a report in September 2025 outlining its adoption of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
