WANA (Jul 22) – In a weekly press briefing held at the IRIB Conference Center, Iran’s Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani announced that 1,062 people were killed in the recent conflict, including 102 women and 38 children.

She added that among the victims were five relief workers, five nurses, seven paramedics, 34 students, and five educators. Several members of the academic community were also among the dead.

According to Mohajerani, Tehran province suffered the highest losses, with 265 casualties. The conflict also inflicted severe damage on civilian infrastructure, affecting 36 schools in 16 provinces, 219 industrial units, seven hospitals, 11 ambulances, and approximately 8,000 residential buildings.

Evin Prison Attack Deemed a War Crime

Gaza: A Clear Case of Crimes Against Humanity

Expressing deep sorrow over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Mohajerani said: “Nearly 60,000 people have been killed, including many children who died from hunger. Shame on a world that allows such starvation in the 21st century.”

Documenting War Crimes by Israel Underway

Mohajerani confirmed that the documentation of Israeli war crimes is actively underway by both government bodies and NGOs. The process began immediately after the initial attacks, including correspondence with the UN Security Council and human rights organizations. The Red Crescent Society and other civil organizations are also involved in filing legal complaints.

She noted a symbolic act by the Iranian Sociological Association, which successfully pushed to expel the Israeli association president from international sociological forums.

Iran’s Regional Diplomacy Gains Ground

Mohajerani praised Iran’s regional diplomacy, noting strong statements by neighbors such as Turkey and Pakistan. She also highlighted official condemnations from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, with the latter issuing a statement during its July summit in Brazil.

She emphasized that Iran’s diplomatic efforts—carried out through consistent international engagement by the Foreign Minister—have been effective in rallying regional and international opposition to the Israeli offensive.
