WANA (Aug 11) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson said the United States no longer has even a single warship in the Persian Gulf, describing the development as one of the consequences of the “Ramadan War.”

Hossein Mohebbi said the United States had more than 100 warships in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War and 30 to 40 warships in the region before the Ramadan War. He said Washington now has no warships in the Persian Gulf.

Mohebbi said Iran’s response during the war shifted the cost of the conflict back onto the opposing side, after the United States had sought to keep the consequences of war away from its own territory.

He said that following US strikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field and the Asaluyeh energy hub, Iran launched long-range and precision missile attacks against infrastructure linked to the United States, Israel and their allies. According to Mohebbi, the attacks made it difficult for Washington to continue the war at the same pace.

He also described the reported depletion of US strategic weapons as another consequence of the war, saying that reduced weapons stocks could pose a serious challenge to Washington given its strategy of maintaining military capabilities across multiple fronts.

Mohebbi said the war also had a significant impact on global supply chains. He said that before the conflict, between 125 and 140 ships passed through the mouth of the Persian Gulf each day, while the number fell to six or seven during the war. He added that around 1,300 loaded vessels were halted inside the Strait of Hormuz.

He said the disruption sharply increased shipping and insurance costs and affected the supply of oil, petroleum products, raw materials and industrial components, with broader consequences for global financial markets and supply chains.

Mohebbi also described the Strait of Hormuz as more than an economic waterway, calling it a strategic source of power for Iran. He said the war demonstrated once again the importance of geography in military and power calculations.

He further said Europe did not fully align with Washington during the Ramadan War as it had in previous conflicts, adding that tensions between the United States and Europe had also affected relations between Washington and NATO.

Mohebbi called on journalists to document and report the developments and Iran’s capabilities, saying that preserving a record of the war would be important for future generations.
