WANA (Aug 25) – Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, emphasized Iran’s support for an independent and strong Iraq during a meeting with Faiq Zidan, President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council. He said that the countries of the region would decide their own future and that the United States would have no place in the region’s future.

 

During the meeting, held on Tuesday, August 25, Rezaei stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports an independent and powerful Iraq and underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.

 

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also addressed security concerns along the shared border between Iran and Iraq, calling for the situation of anti-Iranian militant groups based in the border areas of the two countries to be resolved.

 

Zidan, for his part, expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran and conveyed the greetings of Iraqi officials to Iran’s Supreme Leader.

 

The President of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council further emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and the need to ensure security along the shared border between Iran and Iraq.
