Mokhber Outlines Iran’s Transitional Governance After Leader’s Assassination
WANA (Mar 01) – Aide to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber explained how the country will be administered during the transitional period following the assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution.
He said that, under Article 111 of the Constitution, in such circumstances, the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and a clerical member of the Guardian Council assume responsibility for managing the transition, either a process that has already taken place or will be completed swiftly.
In a televised interview, Mokhber stated that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in terms of his personal qualities, was a great pillar and an unparalleled source of support for the Islamic world, adding that truly no reward other than martyrdom could be imagined for him.
He added that although this loss is profoundly painful, the people of Iran should be assured that there will be no disruption to the clear path laid down by the two leaders of the Revolution.
The aide to the Supreme Leader emphasized that the intelligent structure of the Islamic system is designed in such a way that it is exceptionally capable of reconstructing and reorganizing itself.
Mokhber reiterated that, in accordance with Article 111 of the Constitution, in such a situation the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and one clerical member of the Guardian Council take charge of the transitional period—something that has either already been implemented or will be done promptly.
He further explained that, under a provision of Article 111 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, until a new Leader is appointed, a council composed of the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and one jurist member of the Guardian Council selected by the Expediency Discernment Council temporarily assumes all the duties and powers of the Leadership.
