WANA (Jun 21) – Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni said that Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi carried messages during his visit to Tehran, adding that negotiations aimed at implementing the provisions of a recent memorandum of understanding and fulfilling its conditions are expected to resume on Sunday.

 

Speaking about Naqvi’s visit, Momeni described it as a “compact and very productive trip.” He said discussions covered not only matters related to the two interior ministries but also regional developments, the implementation of bilateral agreements, and ongoing negotiations currently taking place in Switzerland.

 

Momeni emphasized that the Pakistani minister had also conveyed messages during the visit, adding that the trip was overall positive and expressing hope that the outcomes of the visit and the implementation of the agreements would bring tangible benefits to the people of both countries.

 

He further stated that, following ongoing consultations, negotiations are likely to resume on Sunday to begin implementing the provisions of the memorandum and meeting its conditions.

 

“I think the process is moving in a positive direction,” Momeni said, adding that details and results of the talks would be announced by Iran’s Foreign Ministry in due course.

 

Pakistani Interior Minister: Developments Are Moving in the Right Direction

At the conclusion of his visit, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said it was his seventh trip to Iran during his tenure and thanked Momeni for the discussions.

 

“Matters are moving along a good and proper path, and we hope that today’s meeting in Switzerland will also be successful,” Naqvi said.

 

Naqvi also expressed appreciation to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, and Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

 

Referring to Araghchi’s role, Naqvi said the Iranian foreign minister has “a broad vision” and that the path he has chosen for the negotiations is a positive one.

 

According to the report, Naqvi departed Tehran on Saturday night after meetings with Momeni, Araghchi, and President Pezeshkian.
