WANA (Sep 17) – Babak Shahbazi, convicted of espionage and collaboration with Israel’s Mossad intelligence service, was executed in Iran today, September 17, 2025, following judicial proceedings and the Supreme Court’s confirmation of his death sentence.

According to official reports, Shahbazi, the son of Rahimkhoda, worked as a contractor in the field of industrial cooling systems, with access to telecommunications, military, and security facilities. Judicial documents indicate that he became involved with Mossad in late 2021, initially through Esmaeil Fekri, who was himself executed in June 2025 on similar charges.

Court evidence showed that Shahbazi used his professional position to gather sensitive information from key infrastructure sites and passed it on to Mossad officers. He reportedly provided details on projects, personnel, security procedures, and vulnerabilities, while also requesting permanent residency in the United States and substantial financial compensation.

During his collaboration, Shahbazi allegedly received training in covert communication and operational security, as well as packages containing money and equipment. He maintained encrypted contact with multiple Mossad officers and participated in online meetings to exchange intelligence.

Following his arrest, Shahbazi stood trial on charges of “corruption on earth” through espionage and cooperation with a hostile state. His conviction and death sentence were upheld by the Supreme Court, and the ruling was carried out in Tehran on Monday morning.
