Mossad Spy in Iran: Who Was Rouzbeh Vadi?
WANA (Aug 08) – “Rouzbeh Vadi,” son of Ebrahim, who was arrested and tried on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation in favor of the Israeli regime, according to Iranian claims, after undergoing the criminal procedure process and the confirmation and ratification of the sentence by the Supreme Court of Iran, was executed on August 6, 2025.
Based on the case documents and Rouzbeh Vadi’s confessions, the accused had full awareness of cooperating with the Mossad intelligence service and intentionally collaborated with Mossad.
The convicted individual was a senior employee of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and, given his level of access, had become an attractive subject for the Israeli intelligence service.
Start of Cooperation with Mossad
Rouzbeh Vadi was recruited by Mossad through cyberspace. He was initially evaluated by Mossad officers. After completing the initial evaluation and verifying Rouzbeh Vadi’s identity, a person named Alex, the alias of one of the Mossad officers, announced that, given Vadi’s area of activity and level of access, he should be introduced to one of Mossad’s best departments.
After a while, the next Mossad officer, named “Kevin,” who was responsible for guiding him, contacted him, and Rouzbeh Vadi’s official cooperation with Mossad began.
At Rouzbeh Vadi’s request, instead of a reward-based system, a monthly amount was to be transferred to his account via a digital currency wallet. With the official start of Rouzbeh’s cooperation process with Mossad, “Kevin,” while briefing him on the necessity of information protection, instructed him to create secure communication by purchasing a mobile phone, a laptop, and two flash drives.
After technical training and installation and use of the secure communication system with the devices provided by Rouzbeh, the Mossad officer guided him towards extracting and transferring important and classified information.
Rouzbeh traveled to Vienna, Austria’s capital, and met with Mossad officers five times. He had previously traveled to Vienna for work-related training courses, and this time, under Mossad’s guidance and on the pretext of attending a specialized training course, he traveled there again.
According to the information in the case file and the convict’s explicit confessions, these meetings with officers of the Israeli regime’s intelligence service were conducted with high-level security protocols.
To the extent that, after several relocations and meetings with different individuals in a so-called safe apartment, he was forced to remove all his clothes and, after a body inspection with special devices, put on special clothing for the meeting. This body inspection was repeated after transferring to another location, with multiple vehicle changes and different places before the start of the dialogue sessions.
According to Rouzbeh’s confessions, after holding five in-person meetings while observing this level of protocol and undergoing psychological testing, lie detection, and verification of honesty, information integrity, and loyalty for cooperation with the Mossad intelligence service, Rouzbeh was connected to his special officer and other intelligence officers present at those sessions.
Rouzbeh Vadi, during his trip to the Austrian capital and meetings with Mossad officers, was fully briefed on carrying out his missions and returned to Tehran to execute the orders.
Based on instructions received from the Mossad intelligence service, Rouzbeh was tasked with sending weekly updates on organizational developments and available intelligence to the service and, after answering the service’s technical questions, would receive appropriate rewards. Rouzbeh explained that the final decision regarding his direct officer was not his own and described the situation as follows:
“I proposed to Kevin that I send a compiled information package I had gathered on a weekly basis and that they gradually pay me, but the Mossad officer strongly opposed this plan and informed me that I had to send the information all at once so that, after review and evaluation, an appropriate reward would be paid.”
Gathering information and sending classified documents and any kind of information Rouzbeh could access was the core of his extensive cooperation with the Israeli regime. He had also provided the Mossad intelligence service with information about one of our country’s nuclear scientists, who was assassinated during the recent Israeli regime attack on Iran.
Identification and arrest of the Mossad infiltrator in Tehran
Simultaneous with Rouzbeh Vadi’s activities in favor of the Mossad intelligence service, after returning to Tehran from one of his trips where he had met with a Mossad officer, he came under surveillance by Iranian security agencies. Upon discovering his connections and cooperation with Mossad, he was arrested.
The case, with the issuance of a summons and indictment for espionage and intelligence cooperation in favor of the Israeli occupying regime, along with receiving a specified amount of money for spying, was referred to court, and the charges were examined based on legal standards.
Extensive and aware cooperation with the Mossad intelligence service and efforts to provide information and receive money for these missions led to Rouzbeh Vadi being sentenced to death by court ruling under Article 6 of the Law on Combating Hostile Actions by the Israeli Regime against Peace and Security and Articles 279, 283, 286, and 211 of the Islamic Penal Code enacted in 2013.
In a part of the issued verdict, it is stated that the aforementioned person has extensively committed crimes against the internal and external security of the country, which has caused severe disruption to the public order of the country.
After the initial verdict was issued, the case was sent to the Supreme Court for review of the appeal, and based on the existing evidence, the court’s verdict was confirmed and upheld. Ultimately, according to the issued court rulings and following legal procedures, the convicted person was executed on the morning of August 6, 2025.
