MQ-9 Drone Intercepted and Destroyed Over Bushehr Province
WANA (Jun 10) – The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that an MQ-9 drone was successfully intercepted and destroyed during ongoing aerial engagements in the Strait of Hormuz region.
According to the statement, the drone had approached the operational area from the northern Persian Gulf and was attempting to move closer to the battlefield and interfere in the ongoing operations. It was subsequently detected and tracked by the IRGC’s advanced air defense systems.
The statement added that the aircraft was engaged by IRGC air defense forces while flying over Jam County in Bushehr Province and was successfully shot down.
The IRGC emphasized that its air defense units remain on high alert and continue to monitor the country’s airspace around the clock, warning that any suspicious activity or threat will be met with a decisive response from Iran’s armed forces.
