Nationalization of Iran’s Internet Following Israeli Cyberattacks
WANA ( Jun 17) – In response to escalating cyberattacks by Israel on Iran’s digital infrastructure, Iran’s Cybersecurity Command issued a statement announcing the implementation of extensive nationwide measures to prevent hostile infiltration into sensitive cyber layers and to ensure the continuity of public services.
According to the statement, the adversary is attempting to exploit the internet infrastructure for cyber operations alongside military offensives. As a result, limiting access to global infrastructure and relying on national capabilities have been deemed necessary steps to safeguard information security and maintain network stability.
In its second official statement, the Cybersecurity Command reported that Israel, in parallel with its military strikes on residential areas and economic infrastructure, has launched a wide-ranging cyberwar targeting Iran’s digital systems. The goal, it stated, is to disrupt the delivery of services to the public.
Iranian cybersecurity teams are actively countering these attacks, and many have been successfully repelled. In instances where disruptions have occurred, technical teams are working to restore affected services.
The Cybersecurity Command emphasized that a series of technical and operational measures are being implemented across the country to prevent further exploitation of Iran’s communication infrastructure by enemy forces and to ensure continued public access to services. These measures are aimed at reducing the vulnerability of infrastructure and guaranteeing the resilience of digital services under wartime conditions.
