Naval Blockade of Iran Would Amount to an Expansion of the War
WANA (Jul 27) – Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has warned that any U.S. effort to impose a naval blockade on Iran would be regarded as an expansion of the conflict in the region, saying the Iranian Armed Forces would respond to any hostile action.
In a statement, the headquarters said the United States had continued what it described as “acts of aggression and insecurity” in the region by carrying out an “illegal naval blockade” against Iran. It claimed that over the past three days, U.S. forces had threatened Iranian commercial vessels and oil tankers in the country’s coastal and territorial waters.
The statement warned that such actions by the United States would be considered an escalation of the war in the region.
It further said that, as the Iranian Armed Forces had previously demonstrated, they would not leave any threat or hostile action by the U.S. military unanswered and would respond accordingly.
