WANA (Oct 01) – An Iranian Foreign Ministry official has condemned the U.S. government’s move to forcibly return a number of Iranian citizens living in the United States, calling it a violation of the White House’s legal and international commitments and an escalation of its racist policies. He stressed that all necessary facilities have been arranged to ensure the dignified return of Iranians to their homeland.

Mojtaba Karimi Sheshti, Director General of Consular Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responding to Washington’s action, said: “This move by Washington is a clear sign of intensifying racist approaches within the governance system of the White House.”

He added that the mistreatment and unjustified restrictions imposed on Iranian citizens, without presenting legal grounds, represent yet another example of America’s discriminatory and politically motivated policies toward Iranians and those of Iranian descent.

Explaining the Foreign Ministry’s measures in support of Iranian nationals, Karimi Sheshti emphasized that the Consular Department and the Office for Iranians Abroad, as part of their mandate to protect the rights and dignity of Iranians overseas, have pursued the matter through the U.S. Interests Section in Tehran and the Iranian Interests Section in Washington, and have issued the necessary instructions in this regard.

The Director General reiterated: “Every Iranian living or residing abroad is free to return home at any time, and the required facilities for their dignified return to the country are in place.”

He also warned that since many of the Iranians who have been forcibly returned—or are at risk of forced return—held legal residency in the U.S. and had lawfully acquired assets there, the U.S. government will be held responsible for any violation of their personal, social, or property rights.
