WANA (Jun 03) – A senior Iranian parliamentary official has stated that any future negotiations involving the Islamic Republic will be carried out within the framework of the Constitution and under the direct supervision of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said that according to Article 110 of the Constitution, matters related to negotiations ultimately fall under the authority of the Supreme Leader, who maintains full oversight of the process.

Nikzad emphasized that the Supreme Leader’s “red lines” remain the guiding principles for any potential diplomatic engagement. He added that while Iran is prepared to pursue negotiations when necessary, it does not trust commitments made by the United States.

Referring to the history of tensions between Tehran and Washington, the Iranian official argued that past actions attributed to the United States against Iranian targets have reinforced this distrust.

Nikzad’s remarks come as discussions over the future of diplomacy between Iran and Western powers, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program, continue to draw significant international attention.
