WANA (Aug 28) – While U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) maintains that no Iranian oil has breached its blockade, satellite tracking reveals an active pathway facilitating Iran’s crude exports.

Commenting on the discrepancy, oil and gas analytical research firm HFR noted, “Shhh, CENTCOM doesn’t realize that the oil figures they are quoting includes Iran.”

The statement comes hours after CENTCOM reported escorting 750 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, while asserting that Iran had failed to ship a single barrel past the blockade zone.

Shortly thereafter, maritime intelligence firm TankerTrackers calculated that CENTCOM’s claimed volume equates to roughly 6.5 million barrels per day.

However, maritime tracking outlet MenchOSINT reported that satellite surveillance captured an Iran-linked tanker departing a ship-to-ship (STS) transfer zone.

The account noted this is not an isolated incident, as Iranian crude and LPG tankers have repeatedly been spotted in the area as well as at UAE and Omani ports, adding that TankerTrackers has chosen to “ignore this fact for certain reasons.”
