WANA (Jun 06) – The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced a new round of sanctions targeting Iran, designating 10 individuals and 27 entities.

According to a statement published on the Treasury Department’s website on Friday, the United States has imposed fresh sanctions on Iran.

These sanctions come as the administration of President Donald Trump is seeking to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran. Despite this effort, the Treasury has sanctioned 10 individuals and 27 Iranian entities.

Reports also indicate that some of the designated entities are based in the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong.

Washington’s latest move against Tehran comes shortly after the fifth round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States concluded in Rome, Italy, on May 23, aimed at reviving the nuclear deal and lifting sanctions. Some news outlets have recently reported the possibility of a sixth round of negotiations in the near future.

Iranian officials have stated that the U.S. must be more transparent about when and how it intends to lift sanctions under the proposed deal.
