WANA (Nov 19) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran is seeking negotiations, emphasizing that no talks are underway between Iran and the United States. The Ministry also clarified that the Iranian President’s recent message to the Saudi Crown Prince was limited to bilateral issues related to Hajj arrangements.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmaeil Baghaei, reacted on Wednesday to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks about talks with Iran. On Tuesday, Trump repeated his previous claims during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, saying that Iran is “strongly seeking to reach an agreement.”

In response to journalists’ questions regarding Trump’s claim, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: “At present, there is no negotiation process between Iran and the United States.”

Referring to the United States’ record of repeated violations and excessive demands, he added: “As the Minister of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly emphasized, negotiating with a party that does not believe in the mutual nature of negotiations, prides itself on its unlawful military aggression against Iran and the killing of Iran’s children, and clearly seeks to dictate its demands, has no logical justification.”

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had also said that the current approach of the U.S. administration in no way indicates readiness for fair and equal negotiations aimed at mutual interests.

He stated: “What we have seen from the Americans so far is an effort to dictate their own excessive and entirely maximalist demands. Faced with such demands, we see no opportunity for dialogue; otherwise, we have always been ready for dialogue and will continue to be so. But we will never participate in negotiations meant for dictation.”

Details of the Message Delivered to the Saudi Crown Prince

Baghaei also responded to another question about the written message sent by the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and whether it was connected to the Crown Prince’s trip to Washington.

He said the President’s message — delivered by the new head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization — contained only bilateral content, expressing Iran’s appreciation to Saudi Arabia for services provided to Iranian pilgrims during last year’s Hajj and stressing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination for a successful Hajj this year.

On Monday, Alireza Rashidian, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, delivered President Pezeshkian’s written message to Mohammed bin Salman during a meeting with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz.

Earlier, Fatemeh Mojaherani had also told reporters that the message related to facilitating pilgrim procedures this year and expressed the Iranian government’s appreciation to Saudi Arabia.
