WANA (Aug 31) – The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has rejected Donald Trump’s claim that Kharg Island has been destroyed, stressing that conditions on the island remain calm and that oil operations are continuing without interruption.

 

Hamid Bord, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, told a reporter abt Trump’s recent remarks regarding Kharg Island: “Trump’s tweets are laughable. Conditions on Kharg have been calm and stable.”

 

He added that Kharg’s oil facilities and infrastructure have been targeted in attacks at various times, but oil industry workers and operational personnel have ensured that oil activities have not been halted even for a moment.

 

Bord also pointed to the continuation of construction and technical work on the island, saying: “As I speak to you right now, several contractors are carrying out rehabilitation and modernization work on storage tanks. The reconstruction of piers and tanks, along with projects that had already been planned, is continuing without interruption.”

 

The NIOC chief said some of these projects are around 20 percent complete, while others have reached approximately 30 percent, adding that work on all of them remains ongoing.

 

Bord’s comments came after Donald Trump posted a video concerning Kharg Island. The U.S. president shared an AI-generated video on his Truth Social account showing oil facilities amid explosions and flames, accompanied by the caption: “Kharg Island is being blown to smithereens!!!”

Trump’s claim about Kharg came amid escalating military tensions between Iran and the United States in the region. On Sunday night, the United States struck targets on Lark Island, prompting Iran’s armed forces to target U.S. positions and bases in the region. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also announced that, in response to the attacks, two U.S. bases in Jordan had been targeted with missiles and drones.

 

Despite the threats and attacks, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company emphasized that oil operations on Kharg Island have not been disrupted and that rehabilitation, modernization and infrastructure development projects on the island remain underway.
