WANA (Feb 01) – The Office of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran has released an official statement expressing sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives in the recent incidents and unrest, emphasizing the government’s moral and humanitarian responsibility to address the situation of the victims and their families.

According to the statement, the Iranian government considers all those who lost their lives as citizens of the country and stresses that each victim represents far more than a statistic, embodying a community and a network of human relationships. On this basis, the statement underlines that no bereaved family should be left without support, accountability, or due attention.

The Office of the President confirmed that, as previously announced, the total number of fatalities resulting from the recent incidents stands at 3,117 and remains the official figure communicated by the government. In line with its policy of transparency and accountability, the government has publicly released a list containing the verified identities of 2,986 individuals, compiled by the National Legal Medicine Organization and cross-checked with the Civil Registration Organization.

The statement explains that the discrepancy of 131 cases is due to some individuals remaining unidentified and inconsistencies in national identification records. It notes that once these issues are resolved, the list will be updated and completed accordingly.

The published list includes the first name, last name, father’s name, and the last six digits of the national identification number of the deceased. In response to public concerns, the government has also announced the launch of an online platform, to be made available within the next 48 hours, allowing individuals to submit additional information or claims for review. The platform is intended to facilitate verification processes while ensuring administrative simplicity and the protection of personal privacy.

In conclusion, the Office of the President expressed hope that through national solidarity, collective empathy, and continued efforts to support those affected by the recent tragic events, greater calm, stability, and social cohesion will be restored across the country.

The list of identified victims has been published on the official website of the Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
