WANA (Jul 11) – The head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said that 123 foreign delegations from 38 countries traveled to Iran through Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini International airports to attend the funeral ceremony for the late Leader of the Revolution.

 

Abuzar Shiroudi said the country’s aviation sector had focused on three main priorities during the event: ensuring flight safety, managing the arrival of foreign delegations, and maintaining stability in airfares. He added that despite the challenging conditions following the 40-day war and the damage sustained by Iran’s aviation sector, all flight operations were carried out without major disruptions.

 

According to Shiroudi, Mehrabad Airport received 25 diplomatic delegations comprising around 640 political and military officials from various countries. The flights arrived at roughly 15-minute intervals and were handled smoothly through coordination between the Airports Company and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

He said Imam Khomeini International Airport also received 98 foreign delegations, bringing around 360 officials from 38 countries, including representatives of various nations and members of the Axis of Resistance.

 

Shiroudi added that nearly 350,000 passengers traveled through Mehrabad, Imam Khomeini International, and Mashhad airports between July 2 and July 10. He said the large-scale aviation operation was completed successfully while maintaining flight safety and relatively stable ticket prices on high-demand routes.
