WANA (Jul 02) – A U.S. official claimed on Wednesday evening that daily oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz has exceeded 10 million barrels.

 

The unnamed official, cited by Bloomberg, also stated that an additional 5 million barrels per day are being transported via alternative routes.

 

The report noted that before the start of the war involving the United States and the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, around 20 million barrels of oil passed daily through this waterway.

 

The U.S. official further claimed that the increase in traffic since the signing of a U.S.–Iran peace memorandum reflects a major surge following the disruption of flows due to war, adding that it “surprised Tehran,” highlighted its current limited ability to block passage through the strait, and was linked to recent attacks around the waterway.

 

According to Bloomberg, citing the same source, the United States is pressuring Iran to comply with the maritime provisions of the memorandum and to reach a long-term agreement ensuring free commercial transit.
