WANA (Jun 12) – While Iran’s Foreign Ministry had earlier stated that the sixth round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington was being “planned,” Oman has now officially confirmed that it will host the negotiations this coming Sunday.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi announced the news in a post on his X account on Thursday, writing:

“I am pleased to confirm the 6th round of Iran-US talks will be held in Muscat this Sunday, the 15th.”

The announcement follows remarks by Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei on Tuesday. In response to reporters’ questions about the next round of indirect talks, Baghaei had said, “Based on recent consultations, the next round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States is being planned for this coming Sunday in Muscat.”

So far, five rounds of indirect negotiations have taken place between Iran and the USA. The first round of these indirect talks between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman, was held on April 12 in Muscat, and the second round of talks took place in Rome on Saturday, April 19, again with Oman as the intermediary.

The third round of talks, which took place on Saturday, April 26, was also in Oman. Iran and the United States concluded their fourth round of indirect negotiations in Muscat on Sunday, May 11. The fifth round also took place in Italy on May 23.
