Oman: Iran-U.S. Talks Will Not Take Place
WANA (Jun 14) – Oman’s Foreign Minister has announced the cancellation of the sixth round of negotiations between Iran and the United States, which was scheduled to take place in Muscat on Sunday.
This announcemt comes after Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi phone call with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in which, he declared that the continuation of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States is “unjustifiable” while what he described as the “barbaric actions of the Zionist regime” persist.
So far, five rounds of indirect negotiations have taken place between Iran and the USA. The first round of these indirect talks between Iran and the U.S., mediated by Oman, was held on April 12 in Muscat, and the second round of talks took place in Rome on Saturday, April 19, again with Oman as the intermediary.
The third round of talks, which took place on Saturday, April 26, was also in Oman. Iran and the United States concluded their fourth round of indirect negotiations in Muscat on Sunday, May 11. The fifth round also took place in Italy on May 23.
