WANA (Sep 14) – Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi has deleted a social media post regarding a regional summit with Iran and published a new one, removing all flag emojis after his original post featured a pre-1979 emblem that drew sharp reactions from Iranian media.

Albusaidi published a new statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday concerning the postponement of a planned summit in Salalah. The meeting was intended to bring together representatives from Iran, Oman, and other regional states to discuss the future of the Strait of Hormuz.

The initial post relied on X’s emoji interface, which removed the official flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran last year and replaced it with the pre-1979 Lion and Sun emblem.

Following widespread criticism in the Iranian press over the use of the outdated emblem—a symbol associated historically with the Qajar and Pahlavi eras and currently used by opposition groups—the Omani Foreign Minister deleted the original post entirely and issued a fresh message that omits all national flags.
