Operation “Herald of Victory” Launched Against U.S. Bases in the Region
WANA ( Jun 23) – Following an unannounced U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched a missile operation on Monday night, targeting American military bases in Qatar and Iraq under the code name “Herald of Victory” (Basharat al-Fath).
According to an official statement from Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff, the operation was conducted in response to what it called a “blatant act of aggression” by the United States. The statement added that the mission was carried out under the directive of the Supreme National Security Council and led by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command Headquarters. It reads:
“With the sacred call of Ya Aba Abdillah al-Hussain (AS), Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar—headquarters of U.S. Air Forces in West Asia—was struck with devastating force. The message is clear: The Islamic Republic of Iran will never leave an assault on its sovereignty and national security unanswered.”
According to media reports, 6 missiles have struck Al-Udeid Air Base so far.
U.S. aircraft and naval vessels are currently retreating from the skies and waters of the Persian Gulf.
Statement by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council in Response to U.S. Aggression
Minutes after the start of the operation, the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced that the missile strike on Al-Udeid Air Base was a proportional response to the United States’ aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The statement declared that the number of missiles used matched the number of bombs deployed by the U.S. in its attack, and that the targeting of Al-Udeid was carried out in a way that kept a safe distance from residential areas in Qatar, posing no threat to the Qatari people.
The Secretariat further emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to maintaining its historical and friendly relations with Qatar.
On-the-Ground and Media Reports
International media outlets reported multiple explosions heard in the Qatari capital. Eyewitnesses stated that the blasts shook homes in northern Doha.
Meanwhile, Israeli and Western sources claimed that Iran fired at least six missiles toward U.S. bases in Qatar, while simultaneously targeting American facilities in Iraq. The Ayn al-Asad Air Base in western Iraq has reportedly gone on full alert.
Warning Systems Activated in Three Countries
According to Iran’s state-run IRINN news channel, sirens were triggered at U.S. bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, and American troops were moved to shelters. So far, there has been no official response from the United States.
The attack comes one day after U.S. forces carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, later declaring the operation a “successful mission.”
Iran Issues Warning to the U.S. and Its Allies
In its statement, the Iranian Armed Forces emphasized their right to self-defense and declared that U.S. military bases in the region are not signs of strength but rather “America’s Achilles’ heel.” The statement added:
“The era of hit-and-run is over. Any further act of hostility will only accelerate the collapse of America’s military infrastructure in the region and force its disgraceful withdrawal.”
