WANA (Jun 30) – Iran’s Judiciary spokesperson, Asghar Jahangir, has condemned recent Israeli strikes, carried out in cooperation with the United States, which he said have killed nearly 1,000 Iranians in the past two weeks.

“According to the latest figures, 935 of our compatriots have been identified among the martyrs, including 38 innocent children and 132 women—some of whom were pregnant,” Jahangir stated. “This is while the Zionist regime claimed it was not targeting civilians.”

Casualties from the Attack on Evin Prison

Jahangir also provided updated figures from the Israeli airstrike on Tehran’s Evin Prison. He said 79 people—including visiting family members, prison staff, nearby residents, and inmates—were killed in the attack. Several others were injured.

Following the attack, all prisoners were immediately relocated to a secure facility, and authorities established communication channels with their families to ease public concern. “Currently, there are no prisoners held at Evin Prison as the site requires complete reconstruction,” he added.

Judiciary Response and Arrest of Infiltrators

Jahangir stated that the judiciary acted swiftly following the attacks. “On the order of the Judiciary Chief, special branches have been established to prosecute traitors to the nation,” he said. “Many infiltrators have been identified and arrested, thanks in part to valuable public cooperation.”

He emphasized that Iran’s enemies had attempted to destabilize the country through networks of opposition figures and disinformation campaigns. “These efforts failed due to timely judicial action and security measures,” Jahangir said.

European Nationals Arrested on Espionage Charges

The judiciary spokesperson also revealed that several European nationals were arrested in various provinces for allegedly cooperating with Israel. “Their cases are now under investigation,” he confirmed.

Jahangir stressed that the judiciary would handle all cases involving national security violations, espionage, and treason with urgency and severity. “These cases will be processed without delay and given top priority in accordance with the Chief Justice’s directives.”
