WANA (Aug 11) – One of the companies operating within Iran’s International Innovation Zone has produced over one million units of human tissue products to aid patient treatment, marking a significant achievement in therapeutic tissue donation.

Amir Hossein Tavakoli, CEO of this knowledge-based company, stated that their products include processed tissues such as bone, cartilage, skin, heart valves, and corneas. These are sterilized and prepared for transplantation without the need for immunosuppressive drugs and without the risk of graft rejection.

He added that this technology, initially transferred from Europe to Iran, has now reached a stage where the country is not only self-sufficient but also among the leading nations in the region. By expanding production capacity and utilizing advanced R&D units, the company has successfully localized all tissue processing stages and is currently working on developing new production lines and improving product quality.

Tavakoli explained that, with the help of domestic experts and scientific consultants, and after obtaining official approvals from the Food and Drug Administration, the company has produced products usable in a wide range of therapeutic applications, including orthopedics, spinal surgery, dentistry, and reconstructive procedures. For example, their bone powder product offers an effective solution for jawbone grafts, repairing damaged bones, and treating bone tumors.

Highlighting the importance of organ and tissue donation culture, Tavakoli said, “In less than two minutes and after registering basic information, one can receive an organ and tissue donor card. This culture, combined with technical expertise, has created the infrastructure for producing products that directly impact patients’ lives.”

He also emphasized the vital role of donor families, stating, “The decision of families to donate tissues of their deceased loved ones means saving the lives of several patients. We respect these individuals and families deeply and stand alongside them.”

According to the Public Relations Office of the Iran International Innovation Zone, Tavakoli expressed hope that with the removal of legal barriers in fields such as cell therapy, the path for advancing therapeutic technologies in the country will become even clearer, noting that Iran is now at the cutting edge of global tissue engineering knowledge.
