WANA (Jul 08) – A twin-wave drone or missile strike targeted the port of Sirik in southern Iran early Wednesday morning, causing severe structural damage to its maritime infrastructure and leaving several people injured.

 

Hamidreza Mohammadhosseini Takhti, Director of Shahid Bahonar and Eastern Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Affairs, detailed that the attacks occurred in two separate waves inside the Sirik port basin, first at 12:35 AM and again at 1:35 AM on Wednesday, July 8.

 

“One of the primary floating piers at Sirik Port sustained severe damage as a result of this attack,” Mohammadhosseini Takhti stated. “Specialized engineering teams are currently on-site assessing the full extent of the destruction.”

 

The port official confirmed that one individual was seriously injured and transferred to a medical facility for treatment, while three others received on-site first aid for minor injuries. He added that emergency measures are underway to secure the area and restore Sirik Port to operational status as quickly as possible.

 

Other Regional Ports Unharmed

Mohammadhosseini Takhti emphasized that the strike was contained, and that other vital maritime hubs under his jurisdiction were not hit.

 

“Other facilities, including Shahid Bahonar, Tiab, and Jask ports, as well as the passenger terminals at Shahid Haqani in Bandar Abbas and Shahideh Fatima Nik on Hormuz Island, were untouched. They remain fully operational under strict passive defense protocols,” he said.

 

The incident at Sirik follows broader reports of overnight strikes across Hormozgan Province. Local sources indicate that multiple locations, including Qashm Island and the “Posht-e Shahr” fishing pier in Bandar Abbas, were also targeted early Wednesday morning, resulting in damage to several civilian vessels and fishing boats.
