WANA (Jun 15) – Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, has announced that a peace agreement has been reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, stating that the formal signing ceremony will take place in Switzerland on June 19.

 

In a message posted early Monday on the social media platform X, Sharif said that the agreement had been finalized and that both sides had agreed to an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

 

Sharif highlighted the role of regional mediators in advancing the negotiations and expressed appreciation for the efforts of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. He said both parties had committed to pursuing a diplomatic path to bring the conflict to an end.

 

He also announced that preliminary meetings and technical discussions would be held in the coming days, describing them as essential groundwork for the implementation process and the formal signing of the agreement.

 

According to available information, negotiations between Iran and the United States began after a ceasefire was declared on April 8 of this year, with Pakistan serving as the mediator. Over the past two months, a memorandum of understanding reportedly based on Iran’s 14-point proposal has undergone multiple rounds of review in both Tehran and Washington, with each side introducing amendments and revisions.

 

The report added that, following the signing of the initial agreement, Tehran and Washington are expected to engage in an intensive 60-day negotiating process aimed at reaching a comprehensive settlement on the remaining disputed issues.

 

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump also announced the completion of the agreement in a post on his social media platform. He stated that authorization had been granted for the full and free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and that the United States would immediately lift its naval blockade.

 

“The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to everyone,” Trump wrote. “I hereby fully authorize the free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and simultaneously order the immediate lifting of the United States naval blockade. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

 

The developments come as neither Iranian nor American officials have yet released further details regarding the agreement’s provisions or the mechanisms for its implementation.
