Pakistan Army Statement on Asim Munir’s Visit to Tehran
WANA (May 23) – The Pakistani military said Army Chief General Asim Munir held “high-level engagements” with senior Iranian officials during his visit to Tehran.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the Pakistan Army described Munir’s trip to the Iranian capital as “short but highly productive,” saying the discussions took place within the framework of mediation efforts between Iran and the United States.
According to the statement, the meetings in Tehran were focused on achieving a “final agreement,” while exchanges of messages between Tehran and Washington had made “encouraging progress toward a final understanding.”
General Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Wednesday evening for talks with Iranian officials on the ongoing negotiations and regional developments.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson and spokesman for Iran’s negotiating team, Esmaeil Baghaei, said some differences had narrowed over the past week, although several issues still required further discussions through mediators.
He added that the outcome of the negotiations and diplomatic efforts would likely become clearer within the next few days.
