WANA (May 04) – The spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the crew of the ship “Touska,” who were transferred to Pakistan last night, will be handed over to Iranian authorities today.

According to Tahir Andrabi, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the 22 crew members of the Touska who arrived in Pakistan last night will be delivered to Iranian officials today (Monday).

According to the ministry’s announcement, following repairs and through coordination between Washington and Tehran, the Touska will be returned to its original owners.

Earlier, ABC News, citing the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), reported the official start of the process to return the seized Iranian vessel Touska and transfer its remaining 22 crew members to Iran.

Based on this report, the 22 Iranian sailors—who had been held by U.S. forces for more than two weeks—have now been moved to Pakistan, from where they will continue their journey back to Tehran.

This development comes after six other crew members of the vessel were released last week via a regional country and returned to Iran. With this, all 28 crew members have either been freed or are in the process of returning home.

CENTCOM also stated in a release, cited by ABC, that the vessel Touska itself has been moved to Pakistani waters to complete the necessary arrangements and legal procedures for its handover, and “will be returned to its rightful owner.”
