WANA (Jan 17) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, strongly condemned terrorism and any form of foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs, expressing confidence that the Iranian government and people, through national unity and cohesion, will safeguard the country’s security and sovereignty.

According to the report, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation late Friday night.

During the call, the two foreign ministers reviewed bilateral relations and emphasized the mutual determination of Iran and Pakistan to strengthen cooperation and interactions across all fields. Regional and international developments were also discussed.

Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s principled positions, including during Thursday’s UN Security Council meeting, particularly Islamabad’s rejection of foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs and its condemnation of terrorist acts carried out between January 08 and 10, which resulted in the death and injury of Iranian law enforcement and security personnel as well as ordinary citizens.

He stressed the need for regional countries to remain vigilant in preserving regional peace and stability in the face of the United States’ interventionist moves.

For his part, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of terrorism and any foreign interference in Iran’s domestic affairs, voicing confidence in Iran’s ability to protect its national security and sovereignty through unity and national solidarity.

He also expressed concern over the consequences of any escalation of tensions and underscored the importance of diplomatic channels and regional cooperation to maintain stability and security in the region.
