WANA (Apr 20) – According to reports citing Pakistani sources, a conversation took place between Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Army Chief, and Donald Trump, the President of the United States, regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on ongoing negotiations.

During the exchange, Munir emphasized that the continued naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States constitutes “a serious obstacle to negotiations.” According to these reports, Trump responded by stating that he would review the issue.

These developments come amid earlier tensions, when despite Iran’s cooperation and the temporary reopening of the Strait, Washington declined to lift the naval blockade while maintaining a threatening tone toward Tehran. In response, Iran once again imposed restrictions on this strategic waterway.

Meanwhile, reports on Sunday indicated that Iran has stressed the necessity of ending the naval blockade before holding a second round of talks in Islamabad. However, Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that no final decision has yet been made regarding participation in the next round of negotiations.

This comes as Trump had previously announced that the talks would be held on Tuesday. Some analysts believe that the U.S. president is attempting to influence Iran’s position ahead of the negotiations through media pressure and political signaling.
