Pakistan PM Affirms Solidarity with Iran in Call with President Pezeshkian
WANA (May 27) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a 30-minute telephone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today (Wednesday) on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, expressing hope for the imminent restoration of regional peace.
During the warm exchange, the two leaders extended Eid greetings to each other, their respective nations, and the wider Muslim Ummah.
According to a statement from the Pakistani side, President Pezeshkian expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Pakistan Army Chief for Islamabad’s significant role in regional peace initiatives, while also acknowledging the diplomatic contributions of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.
Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian leadership and people over the loss of precious lives in the current crisis, praising President Pezeshkian’s fraternal remarks regarding Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. Sharif noted that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has undoubtedly made untiring efforts toward regional stability.
Expressing hope that a peace agreement upholding the dignity and honor of the Iranian nation would soon be finalized, Sharif stated that such an outcome would help unlock Iran’s true economic potential and benefit the entire region.
He emphasized that Pakistan, as a brotherly neighbor, will always stand by Iran, predicting a bright future for both nations once regional peace is established.
