Pakistan PM Says Islamabad Hopes to Host Next Round of Iran-U.S. Talks
WANA (May 24) – Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that Islamabad will soon host the next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States, amid ongoing regional diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions.
In a statement, Sharif praised U.S. President Donald Trump for what he described as his “extraordinary efforts” to pursue peace, as well as for holding a “very useful and constructive” phone call earlier with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Pakistan.
Sharif added that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir represented Pakistan during the call and thanked him for his “tireless efforts” throughout the process.
The remarks come as indirect contacts and diplomatic coordination between Tehran and Washington have continued in recent months, with regional actors seeking to facilitate dialogue and reduce tensions between the two sides.
