Pakistan to Host Iranian President Soon
WANA (Jul 26) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, announced that the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is expected to pay an official visit to Islamabad in the near future.
Speaking on the sidelines of his visit to New York, Dar stated: “Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, is scheduled to travel to Pakistan, and we hope this visit will take place in early August.”
He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to diplomacy and a prudent approach in regional affairs, saying that the country welcomes all efforts aimed at de-escalation and dialogue with Iran.
Senator Dar also noted his close coordination with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, highlighting the importance of transparency and communication between neighboring countries. “We are immediate neighbors, and we cannot remain silent on recent developments, including the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities,” he said.
Condemning both Israel’s aggression toward Iran and the U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, added: “We cannot remain indifferent to any wrongful act, even if it is committed by a friendly and partner country. It is our principle to speak plainly about what is right and what is wrong.”
The Pakistani Foreign Minister stressed that diplomacy and dialogue are the only viable paths to resolving the current tensions, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for encouraging all sides to pursue peaceful solutions.
He also confirmed that Pakistan remains active at the highest levels in pursuing potential mediation initiatives to advance diplomacy in the region.
Last Thursday, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Tehran and Islamabad are engaging at high levels, and both sides are coordinating on the timing of President Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit.
Shafqat Ali Khan added: “Iran is a close and brotherly country to Pakistan, and we place great value on the depth of our strategic relations.”
