WANA (Jun 15) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hailed the peace agreement concluding the conflict between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran as a “historic event.”

 

Expressing his gratitude to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtabi Khamenei, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Sharif announced that the formal signing ceremony will be hosted by Pakistan in Geneva.

 

Addressing a plenary session of the National Assembly of Pakistan on Monday—attended by the Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad—Prime Minister Sharif expressed his deep appreciation for the diplomatic engagement of all stakeholders, particularly Tehran and Washington.

 

The Pakistani Prime Minister also extended his gratitude to the leaders of China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey for their cooperation, while welcoming Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad, who was present in the parliamentary gallery.

 

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Confirms Immediate Ceasefire

In a parallel development, the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) issued an official statement regarding the peace agreement.

 

The SNSC emphasized that under the terms of the accord, all warfare and military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon, will cease immediately and permanently starting tonight. Furthermore, the naval blockade against Iran will be terminated fully and immediately.

 

The announcement follows an earlier statement by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday morning (local time), where he first broke the news of the breakthrough on social media.

 

Writing on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Sharif stated: “A peace agreement has been reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Both sides have announced an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. The official signing ceremony for this agreement will be held on Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.”

 

He added: “We appreciate the commitment of both the United States and Iran to finding a diplomatic solution to end the conflict.”
