WANA (May 18) – A well-informed source in Pakistan’s Interior Ministry announced that the Pakistani interior minister has extended his stay in Tehran, adding that Pakistan is making intensive efforts to preserve calm between Iran and the United States.

According to the source, the Pakistani interior minister has extended his visit to Tehran for a third consecutive day.

The diplomatic move comes as Pakistan sees itself playing a mediating role between the two sides.

The same Interior Ministry source emphasized: “Our efforts are currently focused entirely on ensuring the continuation of calm and the ceasefire between the parties.”

The remarks come after Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry previously announced that a new proposal had been conveyed from Iran to the United States.

Another Pakistani source also warned that the window for bridging the gaps is rapidly closing, stating: “We do not have much time left to resolve the differences between Washington and Tehran.”

The source further noted that a major obstacle still stands in the way of restarting Iran-U.S. negotiations, telling Reuters that “Washington and Tehran continue to shift their conditions and objectives.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said today (Monday) regarding the current situation in the region: “The United States is currently not regarded as a credible party at the international level in any way. Contradictory positions and inconsistent statements have led countries around the world to no longer take America’s claims and diplomatic posturing seriously.”

While the United States seeks negotiations and an agreement with Iran on one hand, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly issued military threats against Iran through posts on his social media platform, Truth Social.
