WANA (May 17) – The Pakistani Interior Minister, who had traveled to Tehran, held a 90-minute private meeting with Masoud Pezeshkian, the Iranian President.

The Islamabad Embassy in Tehran announced in a statement that the Pakistani Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who arrived in Tehran yesterday, spent nearly three hours at the Presidential Administration.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian praised the responsible cooperation of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq in refusing to let their territories be exploited as a launchpad for armed terrorist operations against Iran.

Speaking during a meeting in Tehran with Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Pezeshkian declared that solidarity among Islamic nations is foundational to regional peace and drastically reduces the potential for intervention and adventurism by extra-regional powers and the Israeli regime.

The high-level meeting focused heavily on recent regional hostilities, the stabilization of the current ceasefire, and expanding bilateral cooperation.

President Pezeshkian highly commended the active diplomacy of the Pakistani government—particularly its Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff—in facilitating and stabilizing the recent ceasefire, expressing hope that these efforts would consolidate lasting regional security.

Turning to recent geopolitical events, President Pezeshkian condemned the military aggression by the US and the Israeli regime against Iran, which “martyred” the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, high-ranking commanders, ministers, innocent students, and citizens.

Characterizing the attacks as a major, illegal crime unacceptable to any free conscience, the President stated that the adversaries’ primary objective was to trigger domestic instability and dismantle the Islamic system. He noted that the planners failed to anticipate how cohesively and loyally the Iranian nation would stand alongside their country.

The Iranian President also explicitly highlighted organized security plots by the US and the Israeli regime to infiltrate armed terrorists through Iran’s northwestern and southeastern borders using financial, intelligence, and logistical backing, which made the cooperative security stance of neighboring Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan highly valuable.

On economic and bilateral ties, Pezeshkian praised Pakistan’s measures to facilitate border trade, noting that despite the costs of the conflict, recent developments have drawn Tehran and Islamabad closer.

He stated that an ideal opportunity has emerged to expand economic, scientific, cultural, and regional relations, and announced Iran’s readiness to boost academic and technological collaboration through student and professor exchanges.

Reaffirming Iran’s principled policy of cultivating friendly, stable, and good-neighborly relations with all Islamic states, especially Persian Gulf nations, Pezeshkian warned that the US and the Israeli regime consistently try to pit Muslim nations against each other through divisive projects.

He urged major Islamic powers to strengthen regional interactions, asserting that a united Islamic world would deter any Israeli aggression.

For his part, Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s persistent diplomacy to halt hostilities and de-escalate tensions. Naqvi observed that recent critical junctures have clearly revealed true friends and adversaries to public opinion, providing a vital baseline for future strategic decisions.

Concluding his remarks, Naqvi emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and grassroots ties between the two nations, expressing hope that the political will of both leaders will continue to elevate bilateral cooperation to unprecedented heights.

Eskandar Momeni, the Interior Minister of Iran, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, were also present at the Presidential Administration during this meeting.

Eskandar Momeni, Iran’s Interior Minister, also praised the sincere and committed efforts of Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir to resolve the ongoing conflict and commended Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
