Pakistani Sources Claim Temporary Iran-US Agreement Could Be Imminent
WANA (May 25) – Pakistani sources told Anadolu Agency that the United States and Iran could sign a temporary agreement as early as this week aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, amid increasing diplomatic efforts in the region to reduce tensions.
According to the Turkish state-run news agency, the sources said they were “confident that the United States and Iran could sign a temporary pact to end the war within this week.” No further details were provided regarding the possible terms of the agreement or the level of negotiations.
The report comes as regional diplomatic activity — including mediation efforts by Pakistan — continues in an attempt to halt the conflict between Washington and Tehran. Speculation surrounding indirect talks between the two sides has intensified in recent days.
However, Iranian officials have refrained from confirming that a deal is imminent. Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said: “It is true that we have reached conclusions on a significant number of issues discussed with the United States, but no one can claim that this means an agreement is about to be signed.”
Baghaei’s remarks come amid a wave of regional and international media
