WANA (May 16) – Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, has traveled to Tehran for meetings with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran amid ongoing regional consultations on peace and bilateral cooperation.

According to informed diplomatic sources in Islamabad, Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a two-day official visit that had not been publicly announced in advance.

Upon arrival, he was received at the airport by Iran’s Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni. The two sides later held bilateral talks focusing on Iran-Pakistan relations, regional developments, and efforts aimed at reviving peace dialogue in the region.

The visit comes after Naqvi’s previous trip to Tehran on April 15 this year, when he accompanied Pakistan’s army chief during a three-day visit to Iran. During that trip, he also held a separate meeting with Momeni and attended official meetings between the Pakistani military delegation and senior Iranian officials, including the president, the speaker of parliament, and the foreign minister.

According to reports, the latest discussions also covered issues of mutual interest, including sustainable regional peace, border affairs, and broader bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Momeni reportedly praised the efforts of Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, describing his role in pursuing a resolution to the ongoing regional tensions as “sincere and committed.” He also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding and brotherly ties between Iran and Pakistan and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to advance peace, security, and prosperity across the region.

Several senior Iranian officials and representatives of the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran were also present during the talks.
