WANA (Jun 18) – Following the announcement of the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” signed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, media reports confirm that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also signed the document in his capacity as the official mediator of the agreement.

 

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian digitally signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) ending the war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States in the early hours of Thursday, June 18, 2026. The agreement entered into force simultaneously with the signature of U.S. President Donald Trump.

 

According to official sources, the text of the memorandum ending what Iran describes as the war imposed by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic was signed shortly after midnight on Thursday by the presidents of both countries. The document was executed electronically, with Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump signing it within a short time of one another.

 

A formal signing ceremony had previously been scheduled to take place in Geneva. However, a White House official told Fox News that the event had been canceled. According to the official, the memorandum became legally effective immediately after being signed by the Iranian and U.S. presidents, making a separate ceremony unnecessary.
