WANA (Jun 20) – The Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, stated that Washington’s failure to adhere to the very first clause of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) demonstrates that the United States still lacks any will to earn the trust of the Iranian nation.

 

Ebrahim Azizi warned that the continuation of this behavior will carry a heavy price for the Americans. He emphasized that the immediate consequence will be a smart and deterrent response to their violations of the MOU commitments, declaring that Iran remains steadfastly resolved.

 

These remarks follow recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon. According to the first clause of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Iran and the U.S., which was digitally signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump, in the early hours of Thursday, June 18, 2026, any war or military operation must halt, and it also insisted upon the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon.

 

Despite a ceasefire on Friday afternoon, Israeli airstrikes and shelling continued across southern Lebanon. It is reported that Israeli artillery targeted Kfar Remen, an airstrike on Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, and bombardment of Kfar Jouz.

 

Israeli attacks persist even as authorities acknowledge the ceasefire. An official told Channel 13: “We are currently in a state of ceasefire; if Hezbollah does not attack us, we do not consider it a state of war.”

 

Before the ceasefire, Netanyahu’s orders led to over 150 bombing targets in southern Lebanon between Friday morning and the truce, killing at least 18 Lebanese.
