WANA (Dec 03) – The Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC), in the final communiqué of its latest summit, reiterated allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including claims regarding Iran’s three islands in the Persian Gulf.

At the conclusion of the PGCC meeting held on Wednesday in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, the Council issued a statement emphasizing the expansion of cooperation among member states in the fields of technology and digital transformation.

The communiqué called for full respect for the sovereignty of the six member states and warned that any violation of the sovereignty of any one country would be considered a direct threat to their collective security.

The statement also stressed the need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.

It further highlighted efforts to strengthen trade and tourism, encourage investment in strategic projects, and continue the path of economic development and technological progress.

The Council emphasized the expansion of digital infrastructure and the facilitation of e-commerce.

Member states reaffirmed their commitment to economic diversification, the development of innovation-based and sustainable economies, environmental responsibility, and the expansion of clean and renewable energy initiatives.

Once again, the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council claimed that Iran’s three islands — Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa — belong to the United Arab Emirates and reiterated its support for the UAE’s sovereignty over the islands.

The Council called on Iran to respond to what it described as an invitation from the UAE to resolve the issue either through negotiations or by referring the case to the International Court of Justice, despite Tehran’s repeated insistence that the islands are an inseparable part of Iranian territory.

The PGCC also condemned construction activities on the Iranian islands, referred to statements by some Iranian officials on the matter, and criticized Iran’s military drills conducted on the three islands.

In addition, the Council denounced repeated visits by senior Iranian officials to the islands, as well as remarks it characterized as provocative and anti-UAE.

The Council also claimed that the Arash (Al-Dorra) gas field is located within Kuwait’s territorial waters and that ownership of its natural resources lies within the joint maritime zone shared by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
