WANA (Mar 07) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that recent attacks by the United States and Israel have only strengthened the Iranian people’s determination to defend their country.

According to official reports, the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments following U.S. and Israeli acts of aggression against Iran.

During the conversation, Pezeshkian described the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader as an act that violates all legal norms and international regulations.

He said dominant powers are attempting to impose their will on nations through force, but the massive public turnout in support of Iran’s government has shown that such actions only reinforce the nation’s resolve to defend its sovereignty.

The Iranian president also referred to Tehran’s previous warnings about the unreliability of the opposing side, saying earlier claims that there were no plans to attack Iran had proven false.

Pezeshkian called on Russia to use its international capacities to support Iran’s legitimate rights in the face of these attacks.

He also pointed to Iran’s diplomatic consultations with regional countries, saying Tehran has explained to its neighbors that targeting U.S. military bases was purely a defensive measure aimed at protecting the country and its people.

According to Pezeshkian, the recent attacks by the United States and Israel once again demonstrate that the presence of foreign forces is the main source of insecurity in the region, and that regional countries should ensure regional security.

The Iranian president also firmly rejected claims that Iran had attacked the Republic of Azerbaijan, describing such reports as rumors intended to damage relations between neighboring states.

He stressed that Iran has never intended—and will never intend—to attack its neighbors, adding that Tehran’s path is one of strong defense of its territorial integrity alongside efforts to achieve lasting peace.

During the call, Putin expressed condolences over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader and conveyed his deep sympathy to the Iranian government and people.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining regional stability and noted that he has been in continuous contact with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries regarding the situation.

The two presidents agreed to continue coordination between Tehran and Moscow through various diplomatic and security channels.
