WANA (Jun 24) – Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian has lauded Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to foster regional stability, stating that Islamabad’s dedication to peace is deeply rooted in the country’s rich cultural heritage.

 

Writing on his official account on X (formerly Twitter), President Pezeshkian emphasized the profound bonds connecting the two neighboring nations.

 

“Iran and Pakistan share deep commonalities in their ideals and aspirations. Pakistan’s untiring efforts to expand peace in the region stem from its rich cultural heritage,” the President stated.

 

Pezeshkian further noted that his recent state visit to Pakistan was intended to show appreciation for Islamabad’s constructive mediation roles in the region.

 

During the trip, the Iranian leader held extensive high-level talks focused on expanding bilateral ties and strategic cooperation.

 

“During my visit to Pakistan to express appreciation for Pakistan’s mediation efforts, we discussed the expansion of interactions with my brothers, [President] Asif Zardari, [Prime Minister] Shehbaz Sharif, and [Army Chief] Asim Munir,” Pezeshkian added.

 

President Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday at the head of a high-level delegation and was officially welcomed at Nur Khan Air Base by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

 

The reception ceremony was attended by senior Pakistani officials and members of the Iranian delegation and was broadcast live on Pakistan’s state television and other news networks.

 

During this one-day visit, the Iranian president met with Pakistani officials. While meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian stated that Iran’s ballistic missile program has never been and will never be part of any negotiations, adding that despite Tehran’s distrust of the United States, the country remains open to dialogue and peace.
